Thomas K. Stanley Photography – About Me
Some people like to play golf , workout at the gym, read a book or surf the www. To unwind, I like to take photographs.
I am always on the lookout for an image I can capture right away or return to later. To me photography is almost like hunting. Stalking the image in my mind and trying to find an outlet for it in the world around me.
I find inspiration from other photographers like David Plowden, Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Berenice Abbott, Craig Varjabedian and, well the list goes on.
If you are not aware of a nifty publication of black and white photography called Lenswork, navigate to www.lenswork.com and take a look.
If you find yourself in the DFW area, be sure and schedule time to visit The Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth’s museum district. They have a large collection of photography and always have excellent exhibits. Navigate to www.cartermuseum.org/.
The image Hymnals on a Pew in the Stoney Church gallery is an award winning image. It received 3rd place in the 2011 Plano 125 juried show sponsored by The Plano, TX Art Association. www.planoartassociation.com/
I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. When I travel for work, I always have a camera with me because you just never know when the image will present itself. If you would like to comment on my work, please navigate to the Contact page of this site and let me know what you think.
